The Importance of Bodh Gaya:
Bodh Gaya is the most holy place for the followers of the Buddhist faith. It is the place where Loard Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment, under what became known as the Bodhi Tree.
Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main pilgrimage sites related to the life of Lord Buddha, it is situated by the bank of the river Neranjana Emperor Ashoka was the first to build a temple here.
In 2002, Mahabodhi Temple, located in Bodh Gaya, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After Breakfast, there will be full day sighteeing at Bodh Gaya, the places you will see would include the Bodhi Tree, The Mahabodhi Temple, The Vajrasana Temple and many more temples and monasteries built by the people of Bhutan, China, Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sikkim,SriLanka, Taiwan,Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam in a wide area around the Mahabodhi Temple.
After completing our Tour of Bodhgaya, we will checkout from the Hotel and transfer to Rajgir. Rajgir is at a distance of approximately 70 kilometers from Bodhgaya and we will cover this distance in 2 hours. Upon arrival in Rajgir we will check into the Hotel for night stay.

The Bodhi Tree:
There was a large and very old sacred fig tree located in Bodh Gaya, under which Siddhartha Gautama obtained enlightenment and became Lord Buddha. In religious iconography, the Bodhi Tree is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves, which are usually prominently displayed.The site contains a descendant of the Bodhi Tree under which Buddha gained enlightenment.
The Mahabodhi Temple
built on the east of the sacred tree stands majestically 17 feet high on a base 5 feet square, and consists of a soaring pyramidal tower surmounted by a stupa, it marks the location where Lord Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment.
The Vajrasana or Diamond Throne
lying between the Bodhi Tree and the temple marks the actual Spot where Lord Buddha had meditated and obtained enlightenment.
The Thai Temple
built by the people of Thailand in Bodh Gaya, has a typical sloping, curved roof covered with golden tiles. Inside, the temple holds a massive bronze statue of Buddha. Next to the Thai temple is 25-metre statue of Buddha, located within a garden which has existed there for over 100 years.
